DURBAN – Rubbish is piling up in the Durban CBD as Expanded Public Works Programme staff continue to down tools.

The strike by staff at Durban Solid Waste started earlier this week when they were told their contracts would not be renewed.

Various places in the city — including Wentworth, Clairwood, Umbilo and Pinetown — have been impacted.

The City is now urging residents not to take out their refuse until further notice as the striking workers are allegedly intimidating their permanent colleagues and refuse collection contractors.

What do you think?
