THE 95 Libyan nationals that were arrested in Mpumalanga are expected to be deported back to their country on Sunday morning, 18 August.

They will depart from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to Libya’s capital, Benghazi.

On Saturday, 17 August, there was a huge police presence in anticipation of the departure of the men.

This follows the White River Magistrate Court dropping all criminal charges against the foreign nationals on Thursday, 15 August.

They were arrested in July at a suspected military camp at Peebles Farm outside White River.

The men were charged with contravening the immigration act. After they were arrested, Home Affairs immediately revoked their visas, which were obtained under misrepresentation.

They have been in the country since April, and according to the police, they were here for security training.

After the charges were dropped, the men were happy and ready to go home; however, the administration continues to delay their departure.
