Discussion | Teen set to appear in court linked to Deveney Nel’s murder

JOHANNESBURG – A teenager (17) appeared in court on Monday for the murder of grade 10 pupil Deveney Nel.

His case has been postponed to 18 September.

Nel was a pupil at Overberg High School in Caledon in the Western Cape.

Her body was discovered in a locked school storeroom covered in stab wounds.

This incident has once again raised the concern that our school grounds are no longer safe spaces for our children.
