Education in crisis | Bela Act implementation continues despite legal action

JOHANNESBURG – It’s been a busy week on the education front.

Most of us have been focussed on the matric results.

From supporting those who didn’t perform well to finding spaces in tertiary institutions for matriculants.

But, AfriForum and Solidarity still have the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act in their sights.

WATCH: Discussion | Legal action threatened against Bela Act

The group claims the President acted irrationally when he signed it into law.

This is despite him giving a further three-month window for discussions on language and admission policies.

It’s now given the President and the Basic Education Minister 10 days to respond before heading to court.
