A 35-year-old woman died in a fire that broke out in one of the psychiatric wards at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa, Gauteng, on Monday night. 

Seventeen patients were unharmed and safely evacuated to another wing of the hospital.

The Gauteng Department of Health said the 35-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital last Thursday.
