Four
soldiers are being buried with military honours.The SANDF
members died of carbon monoxide poisoning from a fire they made to keep
themselves warm on a freezing night.They were
found dead during a shift change.Four

The South
African National Defence Force (SANDF) has identified the soldiers as Lance
Corporal LS Mbongwa, Private MS Manganyi, Private LRT Mpolokeng, and Private MP
Nzukela.

Manganyi,
Mpolokeng and Nzukela were being buried on Saturday. The funeral of Manganyi
will be held in Limpopo, while Mpolokeng will be buried in the Northern Cape,
and Nzukela in KwaZulu-Natal.

Mbongwa was
buried with military honours in Pietermaritzburg last week.

News24
previously reported that the four soldiers died due to suspected carbon
monoxide poisoning after they allegedly made a fire to keep warm during a
freezing night in Orkney, North West.

The four
soldiers had been deployed on a 24-hour shift at Shaft 3, a dormant mining
shaft in Orkney, near the disused Harry Oppenheimer Stadium, which has been a
hotspot for illegal mining.

According
to SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini, the soldiers were found inside a
container structure, which was used as a guard house. They were discovered
during a change of shift.

Police were
called to the scene and found all four dead, with their rifles and personal
items on them.

SANDF top
brass sent condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire defence
family.
