Damaging winds and rain leading to flooding have been forecast for some parts of the Western Cape for the weekend, according to the South African Weather Service.

Impact-based warning

A. Yellow Level 2 warning: Damaging wind and waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Saldanha Bay and Plettenberg Bay in the morning.

B. Yellow Level 2 warning: Disruptive rain leading to flooding of roads and susceptible settlements is expected over the south-western parts of the Western Cape.

The weather in your region 

Gauteng will be fine and cool to warm. The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

Morning fog can be expected in the extreme east of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, otherwise fine and cool to warm in both provinces.  

The North West will be fine and cool to warm.

It will be fine and cold to cool in the Free State and Northern Cape, but partly cloudy in the south-west. It will be extremely cold in places in the extreme south-west.

The wind along the coast will be light and variable but light to moderate north-westerly along the southern parts of the Northern Cape.

The Western Cape will be partly cloudy in the north-east, otherwise cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain over the western parts as well as along the south coast but scattered over the south-west.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly to westerly but southerly to south-easterly along the west coast. The expected UVB sunburn index is low.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be fine in the north-east, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to cool.

Isolated morning showers can be expected in places along the coast and adjacent interior.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly to south-westerly, but moderate in places at first.

The eastern half of the province will be fine and cold, but cool along the coast and in the east.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate westerly to south-westerly, reaching fresh to strong in places in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal will be fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain in the east.

The wind along the coast will be moderate northerly to north-easterly, but southerly to south-easterly south of Durban.

The expected UVB sunburn index is low.
