Police have arrested two people in connection with the murder of former world high jump champion Jacques Freitag in Gauteng.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili said Rudie Lubbe and Chantelle Oosthuizen were arrested at about 10:00 on Tuesday.
“The pair was arrested by the Mpumalanga police in Sabie at their hideout in one of the guesthouses.”
A search and rescue team found Freitag’s body in a field in the vicinity of the Zandfontein Cemetery in Hercules, in the west of Pretoria, on 1 July.
The missing persons case was then changed to one of murder.

Freitag was last seen by his family on 17 June when, according to Rapport, a man picked him up at his mother’s house in Bronkhorstspruit.
