ANGELINA Moliwa left her house without saying a word on Saturday, 10 August, and she never came back home for two days.

That worried her son Patrick Moliwa, who went to the Etwatwa Police Station in Ekurhuleni to report her as missing.

Meanwhile, on the same day she disappeared, some witnesses said they saw her next to the dam praying hard.

“We thought she was performing some rituals and went on with our business,” said a witness.

On Monday, Angelina’s body was found in the dam by dogs of the boys who were hunting rabbits on the outskirts of Etwatwa, near the railway.

It’s not clear what led to her drowning.

One of the witnesses told Daily Sun that after noticing it was a human body, they alerted the private security personnel who are guarding the railway.

Police were called and residents also came to identify her, and one of them was able to recognise who she was.

Her son Patrick was called to the scene to identify his mum, and he broke down as he was comforted by residents. 

“She left without telling me where she was going, and I thought she was coming back.

“My mother was not the type who would disappear for days, and when she failed to return, I became worried and reported her as missing to the police. I never thought it would come to this,” Patrick said.

Captain Nelda Sekgobela, spokeswoman for Ekurhuleni district police, said the cops have opened an inquest docket.
