$100 000 (±R1.8 million) is what Mokwena could walk away with if he manages to win the Botola Pro in his maiden season with Wydad.
This is in addition to the $60 000 (±R1 million) purse he also stands to receive if he manages to win the Throne Cup .
These figures have come according to Moroccan publication Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, who also stated that Mokwena could receive a separate bonus depending on the club’s performances in the FIFA Club World Cup in June next year.
It’s clear that Wydad are pulling out all the stops to help the 37-year-old succeed in his quest to awaken the sleeping giant.
The club are reeling from a disappointing 2023/24 season where they finished in an unfamiliar sixth position on the log standings while their rivals Raja, headed by head coach Josef Zinnbauer, managed to sweep aside all and sundry both in the league and cup.
It remains to be seen who Wydad choose as Mokwena’s assistant coach with the publication stating that they are likely to appoint a Moroccan mentor to assist the young coach.
