THE community of Klipgat, Tshwane is reeling in shock and anger following the brutal murder of eight-year-old Simphiwe Ndlovu.
Her body was found in the early hours of Tuesday, 16 July, a couple of metres from her home.
Klipgat residents are angry and blame the police for their alleged delayed response after Simphiwe was reported missing.
Simphiwe was last seen on Monday, 10 July at about 10am. She was sent by her gogo to buy bread.
Her gogo, Joyce Ndlovu said that Simphiwe was dressed in a light-blue dress when she left, but was found undressed, her body wrapped in a plastic bag with hands tied.
“We couldn’t open the bag as we didn’t want to tamper with evidence and compromise the investigation, but we can confirm it was her, and it appeared she had been strangled,” gogo said.

Gogo Joyce said the family was unsure if Simphiwe had been assaulted or used in rituals.
In a chilling revelation, a foreign national and a neighbour pointed out the bag to them early in the morning as they headed to the police station.
“We didn’t grasp his demonstration until he exited his car and instructed, ‘Check the plastic bag, the child is inside,’ then he drove away, citing work commitments,” Joyce said.
Community leader Nthabiseng Dube said after sharing the incident on the community portal, an anonymous voice note was received, predicting the child’s location.
“A grey suspicious car was also spotted yesterday. When community members attempted to approach it, it vanished,” Nthabiseng said.
Klipgat police, together with six vans, a K-9 unit, North West paramedics, and a pathologist, attended the scene.
The North West SAPS spokesperson Sebata Mokgwabone said that the Klipgat Police have opened an inquest docket after a 8-year-old girl was folded half naked in a bag on Tuesday 16 July.
“Investigations are underway and no arrests have been made yet,” he said.
