Snl24 | Woman’s plea for a reunion with Connie Ferguson

FACING the prospect of complete vision loss, Philasande Dubula is eager to meet her idol, Connie Ferguson, one last time. 

The 42-year-old Eastern Cape resident shared with Daily Sun her lifelong admiration for Connie.

In 2012, the newspaper fulfilled her dream by arranging a meeting with the veteran actress during a Women’s Month competition.

Dubula not only met Connie but also appeared as an extra in one of Ferguson’s drama series, The Wild.

Over time, however, they lost touch, and Philasande’s aspirations to break into the entertainment industry remained unfulfilled.

In 2020, while working as a bus driver, Philasande experienced a tragic incident where she was stabbed in the eyes allegedly by family members, leading to partial loss of her eyesight.

“As time goes by my eyesight is getting worse, but now the only thing I want is to meet Connie and thank her for the opportunity that she gave me,’’ Dubula said.

The mother of two recalls Connie’s promise to help advance her acting career. Although Connie was busy at the time, she asked Dubula for a year or two of patience.

“Seeing her would make my dreams come true. I know she’s the woman of her word and because she once gave me an opportunity before. I don’t think there will be anything that would stop her now,” she said.

She credits Connie for her only acting experience.

“I’d be deeply grateful if Daily Sun or anyone could help realise my dream once more,” she said.

Philasande now lives at home, classified as disabled by doctors following the incident.
