Theft of car components becoming more widespread

JOHANNESBURG – The rise in vehicle hijacking is a major concern, but insurers are now flagging another problem.

The theft of components is becoming more prevalent than the stealing of whole cars.

They say the high demand for affordable, readily available parts on the black market is driving the trend.

And these parts are easier to conceal and harder to trace than whole cars.
