The Television Academy has announced the list of nominees for the 2024 Emmys including 18 nominations for transmedia adaptations. Amazon Prime’s Fallout series earned the vast majority — 16 — of these and Peacock’s Twisted Metal series also made the cut.
Fallout’s nominations include nods for top awards including Best Drama Series and Best Writing for a Drama Series. Walton Goggins was also nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of The Ghoul. The Television Academy also recognized Fallout in several technical categories like production design, costumes, makeup, special visual effects.
Additionally, The Television Academy recognized Fallout’s Vault 33 interactive experience in its Best Emerging Media category.
Fallout is tied with three other series for the seventh most nominated program at the 2024 Emmys. FX’s Shogun lead the pack with 25 nominations, followed by FX’s The Bear (23), Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building (21), HBO/Max’s True Detective: Night Country (19) and Netflix’s The Crown (18). Eligible programs aired between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024.

Twisted Metal earned its sole nomination for Best Stunt Coordination in a Comedy.
In 2023, The Last of Us made waves as the first gaming transmedia adaptation to earn nominations in the categories. HBO’s adaptation earned 24 noms — the second most of any program that year. While it did earn eight wins, Fallout has the opportunity to take home the first win in a top category.
Neflix’s Arcane, which is based on Riot Games’ League of Legends, also won four Emmys in 2022, including Best Animated Program.
This string of nominations highlights that gaming transmedia adaptations are resonating with both audiences and critics. With adaptations of Tomb Raider, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, and Arcane Season 2 coming in 2024, critics will have plenty of shows to nominate and continue this streak.
Fans can tune in to watch the 76th Emmys on Sunday, September 15 from 5-8 p.m. PT/8-11 p.m. ET on ABC to see if Fallout snags any of the night’s biggest awards. The majority of creative Emmys will be handed out on September 7-8.
